Design Engineering

Good design determines more than half of production costs. We engineer steel and welded assemblies for efficient welding, fixturing and inspection, and review existing designs with the same production focus.

Frequently Asked Questions

Design engineering in practice

What does design for manufacture mean?

Design for manufacture means developing the component around the production process: accessible weld positions, practical tolerances, minimal re-fixturing and inspectable welds. This reduces lead time and scrap far more effectively than later process optimisation.

Can you work with existing CAD data?

Yes. We work in Autodesk Inventor and accept common exchange formats including STEP, IGES and DXF. We can revise existing assemblies, create drawings and add production documentation.

Do you also design with armour steel?

Yes. High-strength and ballistic materials are a core area of expertise: bend radii, cut-edge quality, heat-affected zones and joint concepts differ significantly from structural steel.
